Crystal Clear Solutions Senior Staff

Joe is the principal in Crystal Clear Solutions, LLC, an accounting firm that specializes in nonprofit and private foundation clients. The business was started in 1994 by Crystal Collette and recently purchased Joe. CCS has served hundreds of organizations, both local and nationally. We consult with clients on a wide variety of topics including accounting and financial management, audit preparation, budget forecasting, human resources, workers compensation audits, and employee benefits.

Joe is a licensed CPA and has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from the Kelley School of Business, a top US accounting program. While in college, Joe served as a graduate assistant tutoring intermediate and advanced financial accounting; prioritized coursework in nonprofit accounting, tax considerations for tax exempt entities, and planned giving; administered and approved university grants provided by student activity fund; and worked for a Community Foundation doing fund accounting and review of Grant reports.

In addition to his CPA, Joe is a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE), a designation focused on solvency and risk monitoring for insurance and financial institutions. While nonprofit operations vary greatly from financial institutions, the emphasis on Enterprise Risk Management transfers seamlessly to nonprofits and provides expertise outside of a typical CPA skillset. Joe has experience in monitoring organizational risks such as liquidity, (lack of) corporate governance and oversight, appropriateness of the organization’s investment strategy, succession planning, and other operational and strategic risks.

Outside of work, Joe is involved in several organizations: sitting on Lilly Community Endowment Scholarship committee and other scholarship committees, serving as a chair for the 2022 Indianapolis Walk to End Alzheimer’s and helping them reach their fundraising goal of $1 million for the first time ever, and serving on special purpose committees to help ensure financial solvency in times of need or through strategic growth. Additionally, he enjoys playing electric guitar for his church.
